Chapter 8

A couple more weeks pass, going on to three and Ringo started showing signs of getting well. He was starting to laugh again which Brian greatly missed, but he was still cautious. Ringo's illness could turn around at any moment and maybe even become fatal. The thought of losing his little angel made him cry at night after Ringo fell asleep. Ringo found this out the next morning when he woke up before Brian.

There were little tear stains on Brian's face and some still leaked out to trail down the path. He trailed a path and woke Brian. “Morning Ringo.” Brian said with a little smile that was followed by a large yawn. “What’s wrong?” Ringo asked. “Hm?” hummed Brian. “Are you feeling OK?” Ringo asked quietly. “Yeah, I’m feeling fine.” Brian answered and wiped his eyes. “How come you were crying then?” Ringo asked in a low voice. “Did I?” Brian questioned and wiped his eyes again. “Must’ve happened in my sleep.” he smiled but Ringo wasn’t fooled.

He sat up in bed and gave Brian the “I’m waiting” look. “It’s nothing Ringo, really.” Brian said with a nervous chuckle. “Do you want me to get better or not?” Ringo asked. “I do.” Brian answered. “Well, then, don’t make me worry over you. I can tell a sad face anywhere.” Ringo said softly. “Alright,” sighed Brian. “The doctor said you have pneumonia.” Brian said. “And even though you are getting better, I’m afraid that . . .” Brian stated. “Afraid of what?” Ringo asked. “That you might . . .” Brian said and gulped. “What?” Ringo asked again.

“Well, you’re sickness could turn around at any moment and . . . I’m terrified that you might die.” Brian answered with tears in his eyes. “Oh,” replied Ringo and smiled. “See? That wasn’t so hard now, was it?” “Ringo, I really am scared for you.” Brian sniffled. “Eppy, I wouldn’t leave you.” Ringo said softly. “You know, they say that laughter’s the best medicine in the world. So, make me happy, yeah?” Ringo smiled and hugged his manager. “Okay, (sniff) what do want for breakfast?” Brian asked. “Well, I’m feeling kind of lonely for the guys.” Ringo answered. “They can come visit tonight.” Brian smiled and went to make Ringo some oatmeal.

************

Brian did his absolute best to keep Ringo happy and it was working. Ringo was feeling more and more better each day and soon his temperature went back to normal. Brian kept him in bed for a few more weeks just to be on the safe side and had the boys do a puppet show for Ringo every weekend. By the end of the next weekend Ringo was all better.

“And how are you feeling today Ringo?” Brian asked, bringing in some pancakes and biscuits and other foods that Ringo wanted. “I am feeling fantastic. I wanna go outside.” Ringo answered. “Well, let’s check your temperature and we’ll see what happens.” Brian said and stuck a thermometer in Ringo’s mouth. “Hm, it doesn’t seem too bad. A lot better actually.” Brian smiled. “We can go to the park for lunch, you like that?” he asked. “Yeah! And some ice cream afterwards?” Ringo asked happily. “Sure thing.” Brian smiled.

How marvelous of a non-parasitic manager and father figure Brian is here! John, Paul, Ringo, and George are lucky to have someone like Brian.
